( 2006/04 Taipei ) Taiwan touch screen suppliers have been constrained by limited technologies and no brand-name, only around 20 companies remain active since year 2000.
Plus there's a certain technology barrier for firmware development, So the way to integrate upstream & downstream players, enhance global awareness and brand name establishment become key factors to success.
eGalax Inc, the professional touch screen controller supplier, held 2006 TSSA Asia Touch Screen Technologies and Applications Forum with Digitimes on 25th April. They invited Microsoft, Advantech, Dano and Partner to share their touch-related experiences to provide wide spectrum analysis on touchscreen industries, market trend, technologies, solutions and applications in depth.
This forum is expected to bring up more opportunities and possible applications to Taiwan touchscreen industries, and cooperation as well.

Moreover, Taiwan Microsoft Technology Evangelist Manager, Anne Yong, focus on the scheme and features of a portal PC (UMPC) which integrates touch function; then illustrated the ideas and concepts by demonstrating one UMPC.
Microsoft presented a comprehensive analysis on selection of touch technologies for portable devices, providing local touch-related suppliers, integrators and manufacturers a solid disclosure perception for future reference.
eGalax Inc had already cooperated with Microsoft that all eGalax controller boards are compatible with this cutting-edge portable OS, that is, system developers do not need to work for software integration when using eGalax controllers.

eGalax Inc, proudly announces that they have developed the very first touch driver for Mac Mini with Intel CPU. It is said that the driver will bring in touch solutions to more consumer products and industrial products with Mac application. By providing the first touch driver for Mac Mini with Intel, eGalax shows its ability and efficiency to meet market demands and move further ahead of our competitors. Moreover, to reduce the logistic problems on client-side, eGalax has successfully developed and produced new controller boards (4W/5W/8W) which will auto-detect and switch between USB and RS232 interfaces.
Surely, following the latest EU directive, all eGalax products will be fully RoHS compliant from July.
eGalax Inc will progress on Infrared Ray Touch Panel Controller and Surface Acoustic Wave Touch Panel Controller this year. By then, eGalax will be one of the very few companies which provide all-four, resistive, capacitive, IR and SAW touchscreen controllers.
