TouchKit provides USB controller chip to meet latest RoHS directive

(Taipei – May, 2005) TouchKit Inc., today announced USB touch screen controller chips to meet latest RoHS directive. These chips are designed for the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

Starting July 2006, all manufacturers of electronic and electrical equipment sold in Europe must comply with the EU's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive. The RoHS Directive mandates the maximum concentration level of six hazardous materials-Lead (Pb), Hexavalent chromium (Cr+6), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE). The immediate repercussions of non-compliance include serious fines and damaged brand reputations.

“Having these pioneered designs into touch controller technology puts TouchKit Inc. ahead of the competition.” said Alex Chang, engineer manager of TouchKit.Inc. Our RS232 and PS2 controller with latest RoHS directive will be coming soon.

TouchKit Inc. is proud of our ability to bring a new technology after providing a full range of touch controllers including resistive and capacitive. All of our resistive touch controllers, 4, 5, 6 and 8 wire, have the same mounted hole positions as well as both serial communication and universal serial bus (USB) interface to make customers stay in more convenient position to switch variable technologies of touch sensors.
